Tom Shively

Tom Shively is a senior from Ashburn, Virginia. He is one of the CommRadio sports directors for the 2018-19 school year. He serves as the women’s volleyball and men’s basketball producer and has broadcasted several Penn State sports including the 2018 NFL Draft as well as hosting a talk show airing weekly on CommRadio. Tom also works for GoPSUsports.com, doing feature-style coverage of women’s volleyball and women’s basketball. Last summer, he interned at Blue Lion Multimedia, a local film company in the Washington, DC area. Matt Freiler

Matt is a senior from the heart of Pennsylvania’s coal region near Pottsville. Matt works part-time in the Game Operations department for Penn State Athletics, serving as the public address announcer and sound operator for Penn State Softball. Within student media, Matt is a member of CommRadio’s management team as social media director. He also does play-by-play broadcasting and producing for the station’s sports department. On the television side, Matt served as a sports anchor for the Centre County Report, and hosts the weekly segment “Penn State Sports Court” on PSN-TV. Ryan Hatfield
Senior /
Ryan is a Telecommunications major and English BA/MA student at Penn State University, originally from Harrisburg, PA. He’s interned for B94.5 Radio, Lady Lions Basketball, Harrisburg Improv Theatre, and WITF Public Broadcasting working with social media, video/audio production, graphic design and writing. Ryan is involved with several organizations on campus including Phroth Humor Publication and Full Ammo Improv. Currently, he’s an executive producer for the Centre County Report.
Sara Perlowitz

Sara is a senior from North Brunswick, NJ, majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Business. At Penn State, Sara is an executive producer for Penn State Sports Night, the sports show on PSNTV. She is also the treasurer for AWSM, which is the Association for Women in Sports Media. Sara interned with Penn State Athletics in their Live Video Production department and now works with them part-time to produce video content during Penn State games. Anastasia Skold

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” As senior majoring in Telecommunications and minoring in Political Science at The Pennsylvania State University, Anastasia has already learned a lot about broadcast media. She’s acquired hands on training in a control room for multi-camera live productions. Along with this, she has expanded her knowledge with social media, photography and videography by working independently on projects. Currently, she is interning with Penn State Athletics covering a variety of games during the fall semester. She is also the Internal Director for State of State. Anastasia fell in love with a faced paced environment and hopes to bring her creative talents to a producer position in the near future. Laura McKinney
Junior / Broadcast Journalism
Laura McKinney is a Junior from Delray Beach, Florida with a focus on entrepreneurial journalism. On the Penn State campus Laura is an anchor for PSN News and the Student Body Vice President. Throughout the last few years, Laura has worked at two different companies, first as an intern and then promoted to and executive employee. Her first internship was at a media firm based in Washington DC, called Ms. Media. Here, Laura headed up an initiative within the company named The Fem Word. The Fem Word is a series that focuses on women and girls throughout the world doing ground-breaking things. Laura’s role was to coordinate interviews with young women at Universities across the county. More recently, Laura interned at Real Leaders Magazine. Here, Laura worked as an Associate in New York City covering events for the magazine, one of which was hosted at the United Nations. Through her work experience, Laura has found that she has a passion for highlighting entrepreneurs, business leaders and individuals who are starting new initiatives in the world. Laura hopes to enter the industry covering leaders and one day start her own company.
