UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State community is preparing for THON 2023 by celebrating 100 Days ‘Til THON. The student-run fundraising event took place on campus in the HUB-Robeson Center from 11-3 p.m.

Hundreds of students took part in the events happening throughout the day, including raffles, activity booths, performances, a silent disco and more.

Megan Wahal is an entertainment captain for THON and helped run several DJ booths on Wednesday. She arrived at the venue early to ensure that the day would be lively and musical.

“We have a couple stages and we're just kind of going through them, helping with announcements, making sure everything runs smoothly,” Wahal (third-year-business) said.

Wahal was eager to see what the community had in store and had high hopes that there would be a great turnout.

“I'm excited to see everybody come together and see the community together because it’s the first time for some of the events that we have before THON,” Wahal said.

Students in all varieties of THON attire presented tables throughout the HUB-Robeson Center. Emily Dolman, THON’s supply logistics captain, had a table selling raffle tickets.

Students flocked around the table, eager to buy tickets while making donations to THON’s Dream Forward campaign. Seeing the enthusiastic student body made Dolman hopeful for the future of the philantropy.

“I hope that one day we'll be able to have thon weekend be every day and be every dance celebration,” Dolman (fourth-year-supply chain management) said.

The 100 Days ‘Til Thon event raised $1,266,034.16 in just four hours. That number is only a preview of what is to come on Feb. 19, when the grand total from 2023 will be revealed.
