Penn State’s Seventh Annual Giving Tuesday
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s seventh annual Giving Tuesday will begin at 6:55 p.m. on Nov. 29 and run until midnight on Nov. 30.
Giving Tuesday, which takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, was created to help the “giving season” get started. It is the biggest giving day around the world with 75 countries participating and spreading generosity.
For Penn State, this year’s event is the largest university-wide celebration to date, with more than 140 campaigns representing student organizations and alumni interest groups.
Donations made on Giving Tuesday will help “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence,” which is a five-year fundraising campaign that aims to serve the public good and create a better future for students.
The three main imperatives of “A Greater Penn State,” which ends on June 30, 2022, are opening doors, creating transformative experiences and impacting the world.
As of Oct. 31, the campaign was at 90% of its overall goal of raising $2.1 billion.

Jess Holgado, a second-year majoring in nursing, said she does not know much about Giving Tuesday, but thinks it is a great opportunity for Penn State to raise money.
“…especially after Thanksgiving when we are all so thankful for what we have,” Holgado said.
Starting on Nov. 15, individuals can create a personal fundraising page to raise money for any active Giving Tuesday campaign.
Taylor Slembarski, a second-year majoring in supply chain, said she is very excited to be a part of Giving Tuesday this year.
“…I think it’s a great opportunity to give back to the community,” Slembarski said.
Penn State’s Student Philanthropy Network will return to the HUB this year on Giving Tuesday, November 30, to promote the more than 39 student-led campaigns at University Park.
