UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The week of Oct. 31 through Nov. 6, the State College theater has brought back the annual film festival.

The festival is open to the public, the cost of the tickets are $10 for adults, and free to students. Tuesday’s feature film, Hazing, was produced by Byron Hurt who documented the issues of the pledging process.

“I personally did not go through any hazing myself, but I think our community is affected by tragedies that happen, Timothy Piazza being a huge one. I think the culture of hazing is or at least was prominent in the community” Catherine Cao (senior-film) said.

Many Penn State film students have taken the opportunity to sit together and learn more about the film production process. At the end of the film, a Q&A segment was held. Hurt and James Vivenzio, who were a part of the film, along with Stevan Veldkamp, Tierra Williams and Patrick Plaisance further discussed the film and answered questions from the audience.

“It further engaged me in everything and really showed me that these were real people and these events actually happen” Sydney Stewart (freshman-film) said.

State Theatre will continue to showcase a variety of films and shorts throughout the week.
