UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- On Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Hall, the THON committee hosted its highly-anticipated logo reveal for THON 2022.

Every year, people gather in excitement for the reveal of THON’s visual representation of its theme, with this year’s being, “Spark Endless Light.”

Lexi Quintieri, a senior, was one of the many students that took part in Wednesdays’ events before the reveal of the logo, a depiction of two children looking up at fireworks.

“The firework with the kids really shows that even in the dark year that we’ve had, we can still grow and help find a cure against cancer,” Quintieri said.

Kate Colgan, THON’s 2022 executive director, revealed the symbol in Alumni Hall, which was met with both joy and excitement.

But, as a senior, Colgan finds this year’s dance marathon a bittersweet one.

“I’m so thankful to be spending my last year here involved in THON. We’ll definitely be sad for it to be my last THON as a student, but we’ll absolutely come back for years to come,” Colgan said.

Nonetheless, she and the rest of THON’s committee members continue to find ways in order to make THON a fun event for those families battling childhood cancer.

“I think to me the firework is the spark that THON creates and the light that’s expanding from the firework is the light that THON sheds on so many children and families in their journey,” Colgan said.

THON 2022 is set to start on Friday, February 18 at the Bryce Jordan Center with the celebrations lasting throughout the weekend.
