Around the Big 12: Week 11

Week 10 of College Football has wrapped up and teams have begun their journey to fight for a top spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Big 12 had a smaller schedule, but it was filled with excitement for its fans.

The top matchup in the Big 12 was a battle between previously ranked Iowa State and a reeling Texas team.

Neither team showed up for the first half as the half ended with Texas up 7-3.

In the second half, Iowa State came to life and scored 27 points in the half and 21 in just the third quarter alone.

Cyclones’ running back Breece Hall led the way as he rushed 19 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

Star running back Bijan Robinson had a mediocre day for the Longhorns as he carried the rock 18 times for 90 yards and led the team receiving with eight catches for 36 yards.

The story of the game was Texas opting to bench their starting quarterback Casey Thompson late in the first quarter.

Freshman Hudson Card would replace Thompson but be unable to get anything going for the Longhorns.

The other big game in the Big 12 included an upset by TCU over No. 12 ranked Baylor.

Both teams traded scores throughout the game, and neither could pull ahead.

They headed into the fourth quarter with TCU up by a score of 23-21.

TCU would push their lead to two possessions on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Chandler Morris to Quentin Johnson.

Baylor would score a touchdown on a pass from Gerry Bohanon to Tyquan Thornton to make it 30-28.

A missed field goal by TCU would give the Bears one last drive to go and win the game.

Unfortunately for the Bears, their last push would be cut short as Bohanon was intercepted by TCU cornerback Shadrach Banks.

TCU would pull off the upset, winning by a score of 30-28.

Bohanon finished with 14 completions for 214 yards and three touchdowns, but also added two interceptions.

TCU quarterback Chandler Morris completed 29 passes for 461 yards and two scores to lead TCU to the big upset.

This loss does not hurt Baylor too much as they drop to No. 18 in the AP rankings and drop only one spot to No. 13 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

Other games in the Big 12 included a matchup between No. 11 Oklahoma State and West Virginia and a battle between Kansas State and Kansas.

The Cowboys came out and dominated as they scored 24 unanswered points after West Virginia scored first with a field goal.

The final score of the game would be 24-3 with Oklahoma State claiming the victory.

Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders completed 21 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

Oklahoma State running back Jaylen Warren carried the ball 16 times for 78 yards and a score.

The Cowboys jump one spot in the AP rankings and the College Football Playoff rankings to put them at No. 10.

Kansas State was able to dominate Kansas and come out with a win by a score of 35-10.

It was all Deuce Vaughn for the Wildcats as the running back ran 11 times for 162 yards and three touchdowns.

Week 11 in the Big 12 contains a huge game with a battle between No. 8 Oklahoma and No. 13 Baylor.

This game as well as others make this week a must-watch for Big 12 fans.
