“Book of Boba Fett” – Episode 6 Review

Story posted February 10, 2022 in CommRadio, Arts & Entertainment by Cade Miller

Another episode of “Book of Boba Fett” shadowed on the favored Mandalorian.

Much like the last episode, the whole premise of the story was about the journey of the Mandalorian, Din Djarin, and really had nothing to do with Boba Fett and his story at all. However, this episode stands out in showing the “Star Wars” story and is possibly the best episode of the season.

Din Djarin has received a transmission showing him where Grogu is training with Luke Skywalker. When Djarin gets to the planet he encounters an old friend, Ahsoka Tano. She shows him that Grogu is training well with Skywalker, but if he wants Grogu to reach his full potential, he has to let go of his want to stay in his life.

After thinking for a while, Djarin decides it's best to leave Grogu with his kind, the Jedi. Before he goes, he gives Ahsoka a gift he brought for Grogu.

Later, the show cuts back to another familiar face from “The Mandalorian” show. Cobb Vanth, marshal of the small town on Tatooine, encounters some spice runners. He gets in a small shoot-out with only him pulling the trigger with his deadly speed.

Cut to a meeting in Boba’s castle, a small table is surrounded by Boba Fett’s small army that he’s trying to build. This is the first time Boba Fett, the protagonist of this show, is shown in two episodes.

Fennec Shand speaks about the importance of growing in numbers if they want to beat the Pyke Syndicates. Djarin remembers his good pal, Vanth, and flies to the small town.

Once there, Djarin pleads with Vanth in recruiting his town to fight for Tatooine’s freedom. Vanth is hesitant because they lost a lot of citizens in the fight to kill the krayt dragon. Djarin leaves but asks Vanth to keep an open mind.

Once he leaves, Vanth is getting ready to gather the town to recruit when he sees a mysterious figure arise from the distance. He doesn’t look good, so he tells his deputy marshal to get everyone inside.

As the figure gets closer, the audience sees a cowboy-like man walking with his head down, hiding his face with his large hat. Vanth and the person stand far enough looking ready to have a duel. The man threatens Vanth about how if he disrupts the Pykes again, it will get dangerous.

The deputy threatens the man. The cowboy looks up revealing his blue face, and there it is shown this person is the infamous Cad Bane from “The Clone Wars” animated series.

The moment Vanth takes his eyes off of Bane to look at the deputy, Bane’s fast pull gets the best of Vanth. He fires at the deputy too, killing him.

This is the first time that Cad Bane has been shown in a live-action show and what a great job the creators did bringing this character to a real-life look. His eyes and teeth are as terrifying as they were in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” animated show.

In the beginning, Luke Skywalker was also shown a lot, showing how well the CGI of faces has grown with Disney’s many talents.

Episode six really didn’t have much to do with Boba Fett and his war at all. But the episode has so many characters and actions that it was great.

One thing the creators need to think about, is this is a Mandalorian show? Or is it a Boba Fett show?

The Mandalorian has really been overshadowing these past two episodes. Does that mean the creators couldn’t make a good storyline without the Mandalorian?

Hopefully, in the season finale, it focuses back on Boba Fett as it is intended to be. But nonetheless, a fantastic story for the Mandalorian.
