UPDATE: The Bryce Jordan Center’s vaccine clinic has been paused until at least April 20, due to a recent announcement by Pennsylvania’s Department of Health regarding the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Bryce Jordan Center is running a regional COVID-19 vaccination clinic, opening up shop last Friday.

This regional clinic is providing doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to thousands of eligible people in the area. The BJC will operate five days a week from Thursday to Monday. Its hours are from noon to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. It will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Freshman public relations major Emma Black shared her experience receiving the vaccine at the newly opened clinic on campus.

“I got my vaccine today from the BJC,” Black said. “The people there were so nice and really helped the whole entire time to make sure you were comfortable in the space, and that you really didn't feel like you were getting a vaccine.”

Students are grateful for the opportunity to receive the vaccine so conveniently. The Pennsylvania National Guard and AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, LLC are in charge of operations and distributing doses at the site.

Freshman undecided major Hanna Ostrosky gave insight into the BJC as a COVID vaccination testing center.

“My process getting vaccinated was super simple,” Ostrosky said. “It only took about 20 minutes including the waiting period after you get the vaccine, but I thought it was really beneficial that they had one on campus and that a lot of people have access to [it]. Overall, I am really happy I was able to do it before I go home.”

Almost 5.8 million vaccine doses have been administered across the state to 3.87 million people, and this number is set to increase as Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced that all adults in the state will soon be eligible for the vaccine.
