D.J. Swearinger’s versatility and athleticism will pay dividends in NFL
“Whether I go first round or I go seventh round, I’m going to be the player that I am and I’m going to make a big impact on somebody’s defense,” D.J. Swearinger said.
After starring at South Carolina as a four-year starter and a defensive captain, Swearinger believes he is ready to make an immediate impact at the NFL level.
An extremely versatile player, Swearinger has started games at both safety and corner in his collegiate career. Using his physicality, agility and knowledge of routes, Swearinger has the ability to line up against a variety of positions.
When asked what separates him from fellow highly ranked SEC safeties, Matt Elam and Eric Reid, Swearinger stated that his athletic ability and smarts for the game distinguishes him from everyone else.
Swearinger is currently finishing up his visits with NFL teams, with the Browns and Eagles being the last of them, and hopes to achieve his dream of being a first round pick on draft weekend.
As for Swearinger’s message to NFL teams, well here is a little bit of what he had to say.
“I’m going to be a leader,” Swearinger said. “I’ve been a leader for twenty one years and I’m only twenty one years old.”
