Elite Game Grub To Maximize Your Super Bowl Experience

Story posted February 10, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Grant Sheets

While we’re all still waiting for it to be declared an American holiday, the Super Bowl gives everyone a fantastic reason to celebrate what I like to call “the three F’s” of NFL fandom: football, family and food.

Compared to Thanksgiving, breakfast should be avoided at all costs on Super Bowl Sunday. If you’re truly dedicated to tearing through massive portions of gametime grub, you may even skip right through lunch.

Throw your New Years’ diets aside, grab a grocery list and start cooking some of these classic Super Bowl recipes.

Appetizers

Chips and Dip

With the most kitchen appearances in Super Bowl history, a wide variety of dips and chips should certainly be a part of your pregame lineup.

Whether it's salsa, queso, guacamole or homemade buffalo chicken dip, you can’t go wrong with this appetizer option.

Pigs in a Blanket

Some golden-brown pigs in a blanket before sitting back and watching the pigskin get thrown around? Absolutely.

If you really want to kick it up a notch, try making a pig in a pig: a mini hotdog wrapped in bacon, topped off with a sweet maple coating.

Traditional Wings & Loaded Fries

Disclaimer: if you plan on handling the remote duties for your party’s television, steer clear of these items or perhaps suggest boneless wings.

Throw it all on one plate, chow down and kick back for a few drives until the pregame snacks settle.

Main Courses

Burgers & Sliders

In the event that you are the host of a large Super Bowl party, any handheld options are always safe, quick and easy.

You may notice that any bettors at your function will head straight for the burgers or sliders; having one hand available at all times to check parlays is a must.

Chili

This meal option leaves a lot of room for the chef to put some personal touches into. Go ahead, use this as an opportunity to show off your chili mastery.

Some universally loved options include beef and beans, chicken chorizo and ground turkey.

Build-Your-Own-Sub Station

It may require some effort, but turning the kitchen table into a customizable sub bar is something that all hosts should consider.

Just remember in advance; the more toppings, the merrier.

Nachos

From piping hot pulled chicken to crispy chips, freshness is key to an elite pan of nachos. By simply throwing your day-old pan into the oven, you are going to end up with a lot of leftovers.

Also, be sure to evenly distribute your selected ingredients throughout the pan. If your guests wanted a plain bag of tortilla chips for dinner, they would have told you so.

Desserts

Skillet Cookie

Every Super Bowl party requires a super-sized cookie, no matter what the flavor of choice is.

To finish it off, drizzle on some syrup and smack a scoop of ice cream right on top.

Churros

Seemingly every party has cupcakes and brownies, why not get a little creative?

For starters, churros are only as good as their accompanied dipping sauces. Once again, the more, the merrier.

Chocolate Fondue

This dessert will ensure that everyone leaves the event as stuffed as possible.

Resisting a platter of treats in front of a warm bowl of liquid chocolate requires great discipline.
