Entertainment To Look Forward To Listicle
2022 has arrived and there is much to look forward to this year in the world of entertainment! In this listicle, the members of the Arts and Entertainment Department take a look at just some of the more exciting things coming out this year.
Wanna One’s comeback
Three years after disbanding Wanna One, the South Korean boy group formed through the second season of “Produce 101”, has announced that they will be releasing a new song called “Beautiful Part 3.”
The group which was only supposed to be together for one year extended their group promotions due to high demand from fans adding an extra year to their contract and remaining a group until 2019.
On Dec. 11, 10 out of 11 members of the group were brought together to perform “Beautiful Part 3” at MAMA 2021. After their reunion, Mnet announced that a special project was underway.
Record label representative of CJ ENM announced this week that the song would be officially released. “Beautiful Part 3” will be made available on streaming platforms on Jan. 27, a commemoration of their final concert date in 2019, and will include all 11 original members. - Erell Williams
“The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent”
Yes, there are much bigger films than this little-known movie project. Ones with big budgets like “Thor: Love and Thunder” or “Jurassic World: Dominion”, but this new Nicholas Cage movie has the making to be a cult classic.
With Cage playing the lead role of a little-known actor named Nicholas Cage, Cage is going to see a Cage superfan. A very odd plot but at this point, Cage seems to do any movie and show off his unique acting skills that only he possesses.
So, anyone who loves Cage, this is the most “Nicholas Cage” movie that will ever be made. Or anyone who wants a bizarre movie with a strange acting style and an even weirder plot that has the making to be the next big cult classic; this is the movie to look out for. - Ethan Hetrick
“Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Part One”
This is one of the most hyped-up movies of the year. After the surprise hit “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” released fans clamored for more. They wanted more of the unique comic book animation style that the movie had or the heart and all the uniqueness that separated it from all the other Spider-Man movies.
For example, the movie followed Miles Morales’s Spider-Man, not Peter Parker’s Spider-Man.
Now, the movie is rumored to be jumping across universes of Spider-Men and it’s only a part one of two, so it seems the movie is building up more and more excited for it as each day goes by. So, superhero and non-superhero fans alike, this could arguably be the top movie of the year when it releases. - Ethan Hetrick
More Taylor Swift re-recordings
In April 2021, Taylor Swift became the first artist to top the chart with a re-recorded album with “Fearless (Taylor’s Version).”
Later that year, in November, she did it again with “Red (Taylor’s Version).”
Swift will continue this pattern with the four remaining albums in her discography if the past year is any indicator.
However, her remaining four albums could be even more significant pop-culture events.
While Swift hasn’t announced any release dates for future re-recordings, it is widely agreed upon that she will re-release at least one this year.
Between “1989”, which won Swift her second album of the year at the Grammys, “Reputation,” “Speak Now,” and her first album “Taylor Swift,” which she released at 16 years old, almost 16 years ago, any of these albums have the potential to reach the same success as when they were released if not more.
It will be exciting to see what Swift does with these re-recordings. While doing press for “Red (Taylor’s Version),” Swift noted that she wants to give fan-favorite songs the attention they deserve.
She gave “All Too Well” its short film, so it will be exciting to see what she will do with her remaining albums.
The success of “Red (Taylor’s Version)” and “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” triumphed not only for Swift but for artists’ rights to own their music.
While “Fearless” and “Red” are two of Swift's biggest albums, the ones she has left have the potential to outshine her achievements with the re-recordings thus far. – Sophia D’Ovidio
