Fantasy Football Recap & Postseason Preview

The final week of the regular season had many twists and turns, including standout performers in Fantasy Football.

Danny Amendola, WR, Houston Texans

Dealing with injuries and inconsistent quarterback play, the 36-year-old wide receiver has struggled to produce much with Houston this season. He may have just played himself into a new contract though with his Week 18 performance against the Titans.

Amendola finished with season highs in receptions, yards and touchdowns, finishing with seven receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns. His 32.3 fantasy points was top amongst wide receivers this week.

Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys

Prescott’s strong season has helped lead the Cowboys to an NFC East title and he finished off the regular season on a high note. Having clinched a playoff berth, the Eagles were resting many of their defensive starters, which Prescott took advantage of.

Prescott went 21-of-27 for 295 yards and a season-best five touchdowns passes. He finished with 31.8 fantasy points, which Dallas hopes he can replicate in the postseason.

Rashaad Penny, RB, Seattle Seahawks

It may have been a lost season for the Seahawks, but for Rashaad Penny, it was a breakout year. Following season-ending injuries to other running backs, the 2018 first-round pick got his opportunity in the final five games of the regular season and made the most of it.

Penny enjoyed his third straight 100-yard rushing game, finishing with 190 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries. Penny finished with 25 fantasy points, fourth-best among running backs, to cap off a surprise final quarter of the season.

Entering the postseason, fantasy football can become tricky. Depending on the league and rules, it can come down to which teams advance in the playoffs rather than who the best individual players are.

If you’re looking to find that balance between individual and team success, here are good players to pick up to lead your team.

Cooper Kupp, WR, Los Angeles Rams

To say Kupp had an amazing season would be an understatement. He led the league in receptions, yards and touchdowns, making him just the fourth receiver in NFL history to finish first in those categories.

The Rams have one of the best rosters in football and without major injuries on the offensive side of the ball, it’s a safe bet to think that Kupp will be very productive in their playoff run.

Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs

Since coming into the league, Patrick Mahomes has been a star and has helped turn the Chiefs into a perennial Super Bowl contender. Mahomes has had another quality season, finishing with the fourth most passing yards and touchdowns in the NFL.

With star receivers Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce and an underrated defense, there’s no reason the Chiefs can’t make their third straight Super Bowl run, with Mahomes putting up good fantasy numbers along the way.

Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals

Mixon flew under the radar with the rise of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase in the Bengals offense, but the starting running back had a very strong season. He had the third most carries and rushing yards in the league.

The colder it gets, the more teams like to run the football. While Burrow and the passing game should be threats for Cincy, it’s likely that Mixon will get plenty of action.
