Fantasy Football: Week 7

Story posted October 21, 2021 in CommRadio, Sports by Matthew Gelhard

Lineups are thin this week with the bye weeks of Buffalo, Dallas, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville and the Los Angeles Chargers. Managers waiting for players to help their roster like Christian McCaffrey and Michael Thomas will have to wait a bit longer for their returns. Teams who are playing this week are dealing with a handful of injuries each.

You are going to have to trust unlikely heroes to survive the week.

Start

Michael Pittman Jr. Colts, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Pittman has had 10 or more fantasy points in four of six weeks in PPR formats. Managers worry about Pittman’s uninspiring performance the previous week, but that was due to Jonathan Taylor taking over the game and TY Hilton’s first appearance this season.

The 49ers defense has not looked pretty as of recent which should make the Sunday night contest a slugfest.

Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers

With Christian McCaffrey missing even more time and Hubbard proving he can hold down the fort, he should be started every week until McCaffrey’s return.

The Giants give up the sixth most fantasy points to running backs this year and just recently gave up productive games to Ezekiel Elliot and Darrell Henderson. Look for Hubbard to continue his productive campaign.

Darrel Williams, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

For someone you probably put in your flex or even your RB2 spot in Week 6, Williams scored 23 points in PPR leagues.

Williams has been a more effective fantasy running back than the injured Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The matchup versus the Titans should be a high scoring affair giving ample opportunity for Williams to find the endzone, which he did that twice against Washington last week.

Sit

Myles Gaskin, RB, Miami Dolphins

Many fantasy managers started Gaskin after his big performance in Week 5 and were disappointed with his output. Last week, Gaskin had five carries for nine yards, averaging only 1.8 yards per carry.

Until Gaskin can be a more effective runner it is hard to feel comfortable starting him even with limited options this week.

Julio Jones, WR, Tennessee Titans

Jones made the highlight reel with a spectacular catch where a ball deflected off a defender and he reached out and made a play at the sideline. However, many rankers have Jones ranked just outside the top-20 receivers this week and that is too high.

Jones only once has caught more than three passes and has a lingering hamstring injury. With how effective Derrick Henry has been and A.J. Brown being the favorite receiver, it is hard to trust Jones in your lineup right now.

Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants

Following the hard hit taken in the game against the Cowboys, Jones has not been 100%.

The Rams defense caused Jones to turn over the ball four times and limited his high floor by only allowing him to run three times for four yards.

The Giants face a Panthers defense that has been impressive this season. Avoid Jones until he and the Giants improve in health.

Waivers

J.D. McKissic, RB, Washington Football Team

Teammate Antonio Gibson is dealing with a shin injury, which was reportedly minor, but Gibson has had to miss portions of each game so far due to this injury.

Last week, McKissic had 19 points in PPR scoring on eight receptions for 65 yards, showing that effectiveness in the passing game that he exhibited in the previous year. With a negative game script to be in the Green Bay matchup and Gibson questionable, McKissic is worth the pickup.
