Greek Life Organizations Play A Large Role For The Kids
Penn State is full of many different types of THON organizations, and among those include the Greek organizations.
Each of them play an integral role in the fight against pediatric cancer.
Mackenzie Day, THON chair of Tri Sigma and Gina Rucci, THON chair of Phi Sigma Sigma both had a lot to say about their sorority organizations.
Day says that Tri Sigma has done some various fundraisers throughout the year, including a kickball tournament, tie dying, a date option and the usual donor drive. There will be four dancers representing Tri Sigma this year during THON weekend, while the rest of the organization will be in the stands cheering them on and some of them will have a chance to enter the floor with passes.
"It's a good mix of different girls," Day said. "I think we do a great job finding girls that are all different and have different backgrounds."
Meanwhile, Phi Sigma Sigma has also done many different fundraisers, with a special focus on local restaurants in order to support the small businesses in the area. They also did a pie contest, an ice bucket challenge and like all other THON organizations, the donor drives. A total of three dancers will be representing Phi Sigma Sigma.
Rucci also spoke about their two families and how they keep in close contact with them throughout the year. This includes hosting various events geared towards the children's interests.
If there's one thing Rucci wants the entire Penn State community to know about her THON organization, it is that they have a fine group of girls who make it all possible.
"I would just say that THON Sigma Sigma is a group of genuine girls who really are very passionate about everything that we do," Rucci said. "We're so passionate about THON."
Greek THON organizations surely do go the extra mile for the kids.
