Heisman Watch: Finalists Edition
The finalists for the Heisman Trophy were revealed earlier this week.
All four finalists play quarterback and three of them play for teams that made it to the College Football Playoffs.
Let’s take a look at all four of the finalist seasons as we get ready for the award presentation in New York.
Stetson Bennett, QB, Georgia
For the second straight season, Georgia heads into the playoffs as it looks to repeat as national champions.
Bennett was put on center stage in the SEC Championship game against LSU and balled out with 274 passing yards and four touchdowns in the victory.
The Georgia quarterback threw for 3,425 passing yards with 27 total touchdowns this season.
Bennett has only lost one game during his two seasons as the full time starter for the Bulldogs and will look to keep that going in the playoffs.
Max Duggan, QB, TCU
Duggan flew under the radar in the voting this entire season but has put the Horned Frogs on his back.
Even with the loss in the Big 12 Championship game against Kansas State, Duggan almost pulled off an incredible comeback while throwing for 251 yards and rushing for another 110 yards with two total touchdowns.
That was the only loss for TCU this season which was good enough to make them a No. 3 seed in the playoffs.
Duggan finished the year with 3,321 passing yards and 36 total touchdowns.
C.J Stroud, QB, Ohio State
Even without playing in a conference championship game, Stroud’s stats were still deemed good enough to be a Heisman finalist.
Stroud last played against Michigan to close out the regular season and finished with 349 passing yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
With other teams failing to close out the deal, Ohio State managed to secure the No. 4 spot in the playoffs.
Stroud ended the year with 3,340 passing yards and 37 touchdowns.
Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Williams entered conference championship week as the favorite to win the award but fell in the Trojans biggest game of the season.
USC fell in the Pac 12 championship game against Utah which provided the Trojans with both of their losses on the season.
Williams still finished that game with 363 passing yards and three touchdowns.
On the season, Williams arguably has the most compelling stats of the four with 4,075 passing yards and 47 total touchdowns.
