It is a special week in the college hockey world. The annual Beanpot kicked off in Boston on Monday and saw Harvard, Boston College, Boston University and Northeastern face off. To celebrate the event, we’re going to take a look at players from each team that could be hoisting the Beanpot and Hobey Baker Award in the same season.

Sean Farrell, Forward, Harvard
The junior has 36 points through 23 games including two assists against Harvard’s game against Boston College to open the Beanpot. The No. 10 Crimson have had a solid season with a 16-6-1 record and the success can be directed to Farrell.

The Montreal Canadiens drafted him in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, and it is safe to say they are very pleased with his production this year. Seeing him in that young core with Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki could be very fun.

Matt Brown, Forward, Boston University
Brown was the lone goal scorer for Boston University in their Beanpot semifinals game loss, but that only adds to his terrific numbers this season. The 23-year-old senior has totaled 37 points in 26 games for the No. 3 ranked Terriers.

Look for him to possibly get some NHL offers after the season.

Cutter Gauthier, Forward, Boston College
Some Philadelphia Flyers fans thought picking Gauthier at fifth overall was a reach, but he is proving them wrong. As a freshman on a struggling Boston College team, he has 14 goals and 24 points in 22 games, including a late game-tying goal to force overtime against Harvard.

With a mesmerizing shot, Gauthier will continue his development with the Eagles before competing for a top-six spot on the Flyers.

Devon Levi, Goaltender, Northeastern
Sabres fans, you got a good one. Devon Levi is unbelievable between the pipes. In the Beanpot semifinal game against a very talented Boston University team, Levi saved 32 of 33, leading the Huskies to a win and a spot in the final.

This season, he has a 2.38 goals against average and a .927 save percentage in 25 games. Numbers like that are why he is one of the best goalies in the NCAA.

Lane Hutson, Defenseman, Boston University
Yet another Canadiens prospect and guardian of the blue line, Lane Hutson has been so great that a chef’s kiss can sum up his season so far. Hutson has 35 points in 25 games and knows how to move the puck and find his teammates.

He picked up an assist on Matt Brown’s goal during the game against the Huskies.

Aidan McDonough, Forward, Northeastern
The senior captain of the Northeastern Huskies has 32 points in 25 games this season. He opened the scoring against the Terriers in their victorious Beanpot semifinal round. As a seventh-round pick back in 2019, McDonough has surely impressed.

With the Vancouver Canucks heading towards “major surgery”, it is likely prospects get a shot at the NHL. With open roster spots, McDonough could find a place on Vancouver’s roster after the NCAA season.

Matthew Coronato, Forward, Harvard
27 points in 23 games put Coronato back on the list, and an impressive game against Boston College helped his case. In the game he netted two goals, both on the powerplay, to help give Harvard the win.

Along with Farrell, he is just another key piece to the Crimson’s highly gifted offense. Coronato is living up to the hype as the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
