NBA MVP Watch: Week 7

Story posted December 4, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Brady McCormick

With the NBA season in full swing, it’s time to look at who has been most impressive so far.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, F, Milwaukee Bucks

Unsurprisingly, Antetokounmpo finds himself in yet another MVP conversation. He’s averaging 31.8 points 11.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.

The Milwaukee Bucks are sitting at 16-6 and are continuing to prove they’re one of the biggest powerhouses in the league. Antetokounmpo remains one of the stars of the league and will continue to be for years to come.

Luka Doncic, G, Dallas Mavericks

Ever since coming into the league a few years ago, Luka Doncic has made an immediate name for himself. This year, he has taken his game to a whole new level.

Doncic is averaging 33.4 points 8.6 assists and 8.6 rebounds per game. It’s been a dominant display from Doncic so far and it should only improve from here with the Mavericks sitting at an even 11-11 on the year.

Jayson Tatum, F, Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum has been very impressive to start the year. The Celtics sit at the top of the East with a record of 18-5 and much of their success has to do with Tatum’s dominance.

He has averaged 30.8 points 8.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists in his campaign so far. Tatum has only gotten better since entering the league as he continues to improve year in and year out. An MVP trophy may be in line for Jayson whether it’s this year or not.

Ja Morant, G, Memphis Grizzlies

Grizzlies superstar, Ja Morant has been an explosive player ever since entering the league. His impact was immediate for Memphis as he took over as the leader right away. Morant is averaging 28.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.

Morant has been the Grizzlies go-to guy and he hasn’t disappointed. He has led Memphis to a 13-9 start and has shown his dominance in a big way.

Joel Embiid, C, Philadelphia 76ers

The dominance of Joel Embiid has not slowed down to start the season after finishing runner-up in the last two MVP races. He’s averaing 31.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game so far this year. After falling short in the MVP race the last few years, Embiid is hungry and wanting to prove a point this season.

The 76ers are currently 12-11 as they claw back from a slow start after getting the injury- bug. James Harden and Tyrese Maxey are both injured now, priming Embiid for an even bigger workload.
