NBA Weekly Recap: Week 3
Through three weeks in the NBA, it’s time to look back at this latest week and see which way teams are trending.
The main storyline so far stems from the Milwaukee Bucks, who remain undefeated at 9-0. This record was obtained without star forward Khris Middleton, who has been out with a wrist injury.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has been tremendous, averaging 32.6 points and 12.9 rebounds through nine games. Jrue Holiday has averaged 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists through this stretch. He remains one of the most underrated players in the league.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been another impressive team so far, sitting at 8-1. New addition Donovan Mitchell has averaged 31.1 points and 7.1 assists for his new team.
One team that has been underwhelming so far is the Philadelphia 76ers. They sit at 4-6 and are now playing without star player James Harden, who is expected to miss a month with a foot injury.
On a positive note, center Joel Embiid is expected to return sometime this week after suffering from illness. It’s still early, but the 76ers are a team who need to get things going.
One notable player performance this week was De’Aaron Fox who dropped 37 points and hit a game winning 3-pointer from the logo against the Magic.
Another notable player, Luka Dončić, has been unreal early on, averaging 36.0 points 8.8 rebounds and 8.6 assists. He had multiple impressive performances this past week.
The Phoenix Suns have the top spot in the Western Conference through three weeks. The Jazz are holding the No. 2 spot after an impressive start of their own.
The defending champion Golden State Warriors are off to a 3-7 start. This is a major talking point through the first few weeks. They are winless in their last five games and look to turn that around.
The Lakers are still struggling but were finally able to grab their first win against the Nuggets last week. They sit at 2-7 and have lost two consecutive games.
As this NBA season continues, it will be interesting to see how teams continue to develop.
