NFL Betting: Week 5

Story posted October 7, 2021 in CommRadio, Sports by Antonio Fondacaro

Week 5 of the NFL is going to be a very thrilling one. Week 4 showed us what teams are capable of serious playoff pushes and which teams are hopeless.

Let’s make some money by finding the best five bets to pick for the fifth week of the NFL season.

Eagles vs. Panthers

The Eagles face off against a Carolina team without its star running back Christian McCaffrey. The line of the game is Panthers -3.5.

The Eagles have been unable to win a single game since their week one win against the Atlanta Falcons. Carolina had its first loss last week against Dallas. However, the offense was able to still muster 379 total yards led by Darnold’s four touchdowns.

The Carolina defense, on the other hand, was not able to stop the Dallas offense. They gave up a season-high 433 yards last week.

Philly will not be able to create the offensive production to the extent of Dallas. Carolina has proven to be able to score with Hubbard in the backfield.

Carolina should easily win by over a touchdown against a weak Philly secondary.

The Pick: Panthers -3.5

Falcons vs. Jets

The Jets take on the Falcons in London in the 9:30 a.m. opener of the Sunday NFL schedule.

The New York Jets won their first game last week against the Tennessee Titans, 27-24 in overtime. New York is finally starting to develop its offense around rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.

The Falcons haven’t been able to finish games since their victory against the Giants in their Week 3 matchup. The Falcons will also be without their stud wide receiver Calvin Ridley, a huge blow to the Falcons offense losing Matt Ryan’s favorite target.

The Jets don’t even need to win to cover against the spread. The Line is -3.5 Atlanta, so all signs pointing to go against the spread this week.

The Pick: Jets +3.5

Browns vs. Chargers

The Browns play Los Angeles in California at Sofi Stadium. The current line for this game is Chargers -1.

Both the Chargers and the Browns have been strong AFC contenders in the 2021 NFL season. Both teams also are coming off of wins and are both eager to keep their streaks going with a win in this huge matchup. The Chargers seem like the more promising team on both sides of the football. The Chargers’ defense was able to nullify a very potent Las Vegas offense while quarterback Justin Herbert looks like one of the NFL’s next big phenoms at QB.

With close games it's not always advised to take the spread, but the spread at one point is very safe.

The Pick: Chargers -1

Vikings vs. Lions

Two NFC North teams face off to try and take a division game win. The line of this game is Vikings -9.

The Vikings have been struggling in the win department but have a star-studded roster. The Lions were competitive earlier in the season, but are coming off of a brutal loss to the Chicago Bears.

Dalvin Cook’s rushing combined with Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson through the air should overwhelm Detroit.

Take the Vikings spread and cash out.

The Pick: Vikings -9

Patriots vs. Texans

The Patriots play the Texans in Houston. The line on this game is set at a favorable -9.5 for New England.

After Nick Folk missed the potential game-winning field goal against Tampa Bay, New England is 1-3.

The Texans look lifeless after losing starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor. New England lost star corner Stephon Gilmore after trading him to the Panthers for a sixth-round pick.

Don’t fret, the Patriots will win this game but it's not a confident bet to take the spread.

The Pick: Patriots moneyline
