NFL Free Agency: Wide Receivers
Heading into free agency, the wide receiver position had the most talent with guys like Kenny Golladay, Allen Robinson and Chris Godwin set to hit the market. However, the receiver market has been the slowest moving among the positions.
Let’s take a deep dive into the receiver market to see where everyone has signed and who is still available.
Kenny Golladay, Detroit Lions
Golladay is one of the top receivers in the league and is seeking a big payday this offseason as he is only 27-years old. Last season, Golladay was injured for the majority of it, but when he was on the field he had a huge impact in the passing game for the Lions.
He is drawing significant interest around the league from teams like the New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears. Golladay will most likely pick the team he gets the most money from as well the team that has the best chance to win a ring.
Prediction: New York Giants
Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears
Allen Robinson is a very interesting player as he has been involved in a lot of drama with the Bears. Robinson wants to leave, however the team has franchise-tagged him and Robinson has agreed to the tag.
Robinson has dealt with bad quarterback play his entire career, dating back to his time in Jacksonville and now here in Chicago. It will be very interesting to see how he plays with new Bears starting quarterback Andy Dalton.
Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Chris Godwin was heading into the offseason looking for a payday after he was one of the key reasons that the Bucs won the Super Bowl. Godwin would eventually get franchise-tagged by the team and he will look to get his big payday next offseason.
Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers
Curtis Samuel is an extremely versatile player and he had a lot of teams calling for his services, but Samuel would ultimately sign a three-year, 35.5 million dollar contract with the Washington Football Team.
Samuel provides the Football Team with someone who can line up on the outside, the slot and even in the backfield. Washington desperately needed a receiver, so Samuel fills a huge hole. Samuel will be teaming up with former college teammate Terry McLaurin.
JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers
JuJu Smith-Schuster is one of the most interesting players in the league, as he has all the talent in the world but his antics on and off the field make him a risk to any team. Smith-Schuster is a great slot receiver who features excellent speed.
The Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs both were vying to sign him, but it was the Pittsburgh Steelers who would ultimately retain him. The contract was only for one year and it is around eight million.
Corey Davis, Tennessee Titans
After being selected No. 5 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, Corey Davis has failed to live up to the hype he had coming out of Western Michigan, but he is still a very solid player.
The Titans decided to move on from Davis and lucky for the Jets as all it took was a three-year, 37.5 million dollar contract and Davis was packing his bags for New York.
This is the most underrated signing of the offseason as Davis might be able to reach his full potential on a new team. It also gives quarterback Sam Darnold a much-needed weapon.
