NFL Weekly Recap: Week 10

Story posted November 15, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Jameson Kramer

Week 10 in the National Football League saw possibly the best regular season game of all time, one of the greatest catches ever, the first game ever played in Germany and the last undefeated team standing lose to a team with a losing record.

Now just over the halfway point in the season, the NFL landscape is starting to take shape, and the playoff races are starting to heat up.

Starting off with the first game ever played in Germany, the NFL went global with its biggest star. Tom Brady added another impressive statistic to his extensive resume when he became the first quarterback to win a game in four different countries.

Brady and the Bucs could have cared less where the game was being played, they needed a win in a big way and managed to get just that. The Bucs beat the 6-3 Seahawks by a score of 21-16 to improve to 5-5 and extend their lead on the flailing NFC South.

Despite coming out on top, the most memorable play from this game came on a trick play that ended terribly for Tampa Bay. The 45-year-old Brady went out for a pass from Leonard Fournette and tripped over his own feet, leading to an interception by DROY candidate Tariq Woolen in a play that has quickly become a meme in the sports world.

The Bucs did what they needed to do, they came out with a much-needed win and look to be turning it around just in the nick of time, a scary sight for the rest of the league.

Getting back to what was probably the best regular season game in recent memory, the now 8-1 Vikings defeated the Bills in spectacular fashion.

The last five minutes of this game felt like an entire game in itself, so many different things happened. On 4th and 18 with the game on the line, Kirk Cousins launched a prayer of a pass to star wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who somehow brought it in with one hand with a defender draped on his back, falling essentially parallel to the ground.

After Cousins was stopped on fourth down just inches shy of a touchdown on a quarterback sneak, the Bills fumbled the first snap from their one-inch line that resulted in a Vikings touchdown. This put the Vikings up by three with less than a minute left, but Josh Allen led the Bills down the field and scored a field goal to send the game into overtime.

After the Vikings drove it all the way down to the 2-yard line, they were forced to kick a field goal. The Bills then drove down the field but the game ended on a Josh Allen interception in the red zone.

The Vikings escaped with a big win to maintain their lead in the NFC North, and host the Cowboys next week in a huge game for both teams.

Speaking of the Cowboys, they blew a 14-point lead to who else but Aaron Rodgers. The Packers defeated the Cowboys in overtime to stay afloat in the NFC playoff race, and they seem to have found their deep threat at wide receiver in rookie Christain Watson, who had three touchdowns on Sunday.

The excitement didn’t stop on Sunday though, as Monday Night Football saw the 8-0 Eagles fall to their division rival Commanders 32-21. A few controversial calls in this game helped shape the final score, but the Eagles did not play up to the standard they have set so far this season and paid the price.

The Commanders move to 5-5, and with Taylor Heinicke under center, they are right in the thick of the wild card race in the NFC.

Former center Jeff Saturday got his first career win as a head coach when the Colts defeated the Raiders 25-20 in a game that saw running back Jonathan Taylor have his best performance of the season.

The 49ers kept it rolling with Jimmy G calling the shots, defeating Justin Herbert and the Chargers 22-16 on Sunday Night Football.

For the Bears, Justin Fields had another outstanding game, rushing for 147 yards after racking up 178 last week. Despite his stellar performance, the Bears lost again, becoming the first team in NFL history to score at least 29 points in three consecutive games and lose all three.

All in all, week 10 provided many jaw-dropping moments and produced some crucial results for the playoff picture.
