NFL Weekly Recap: Week 6

Story posted October 19, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Joey David

Around Week 6 of the NFL season is where people really start to get a glimpse of who are the contenders and the pretenders of the season. Even though there is still time for teams to turn their season around, fans and analysts finally have a good sample size on teams and players.

Is New York Back?

Ask almost any NFL fan if they thought that by the close of Week 6 the Giants would be 5-1 and the Jets would be 4-2. Around 90% of people would have thought the person asking would be out of their mind, but somehow it is true. Both the Jets and Giants are tied for the second best record in their respective conferences at this current moment.

These teams have been playing great football on all three phases of the game and show no signs of slowing down with both teams having fairly easy matchups down the line. Even though it might be a hot start, this sign of hope that New York is getting is something the fans have not seen in a long time.

AFC West, What’s Going On?

It seems like the only team that can show up every Sunday has been the Kansas City Chiefs in this division.

Completely disregard the 4-2 record by the Chargers as they have not played anywhere close to their expectations this season. They have a net -11 points so far this season, while being two games above .500 which is absurd to say the least.

The bottom two teams of this division being way below .500 in the Raiders and Broncos have severely disappointed this season. Both teams have tons of talent, but are experiencing extreme growing pains with their first year head coaches.

Eagles Still Undefeated!

The only undefeated team left in the NFL is the Philadelphia Eagles and they have exceeded expectations to say the least. General manager Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni have gotten the right players on this team and prepared them to win.

Darius Slay has become a top five corner in football and there is not anyone that can refute that. Jalen Hurts silenced all doubters with his dual-threat ability and showed everyone that he can throw the ball well. This team seems like they do not have any weaknesses and could do major damage for the rest of the year.

NFC Powerhouses Underperforming?

The defending Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are both 3-3 so far this season which is a surprise to many.

Both teams have established veteran quarterbacks, but for some reason these stacked rosters are not clicking very well. Another team at 3-3 is the Green Bay Packers who are struggling mightily on offense as they are weak at receiver and they cannot use their running backs to the best of their ability.

Both teams have been at the top of NFC for many years, but are currently playing well below their standards.
