Penn State baseball previews another strong season In annual Fall Game
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – With expectations of an encouraging 2023 spring season, Penn State Baseball gave fans a preview of an exciting future at the 2022 Fall Game. The blue and white faithful filled Medlar Field at Lubrano Park with high hopes for the spring.
On a chilly Friday night, Penn State welcomed Lock Haven for its annual fall game. West Virginia transfer Daniel Ouderkirk got the nod for coach Rob Cooper and company. Ouderkirk set the tone early as he struck out the side in the top of the first.
The Nittany Lions gave fans a sneak peak of the pitching staff as familiar names picked up innings of work: Jordan Morales, Kellan Tulio, Jaden Henline, Ben DeMell and more.
Even though the pitching staff only allowed two runs on six base hits, the offense came well-equipped at Medlar Field.
On a lively 18 hits, the blue and white plated 24 runs. Tayven Kelley was the star in State College as he had two doubles, a three-run home run and five RBIs. Kelley also flexed his speed on the basepaths with a stolen base.
Mount St. Mary’s transfer Thomas Bramely and freshman Ty Torti added two-run home runs as well. En route to a 24-2 win, the Nittany Lions added their runs in bunches with seven runs on seven hits in the 7th, four runs in the 8th and five runs in the 10th.
In an offensive showcase, Penn State secured the win, 24-2.
