UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Nittany Lions defeated the Georgetown Hoyas by a score of 7-2 on a freezing Sunday afternoon.

Jay Harry and Ben Kailher led the way on offense for the Nittany Lions as they combined to go 4-for-7 with three runs and four RBIs on the day.

“Just tried to not let the cold get to us, I think we did a very good job with that, stayed with what we were doing the whole year,” Harry said.

On the mound, Penn State was strong all day with the trio of Jordan Morales, Steven Miller and Jaden Henline allowing just two runs.

The Hoyas did not get much going on offense throughout the game, but Owen Carapellotti had a pair of impact hits including a double.

The game started off with a diving stop by second baseman Kyle Hannon, who was the star of the first inning as he also had two stolen bases, but was not able to score.

Hannon continued to put on a defensive clinic as there was a slow roller into no man's land and Hannon used just his glove to flip it to first to just barely get the batter out.

Penn State got its first big rally going with two outs in the bottom of the second.

Anthony Steele and Tayven Kelley walked to start the rally before Ben Kailher brought in a run with a single.

Thomas Bramley singled in another run before Jay Harry had a two strike, two-out double down the right field line to bring in two more runs to bring the lead to four.

“Our offense has done a great job from top to bottom, I think that especially as a pitcher getting that lead gives you more confidence to go out there,” Morales said about the run support.

The Hoyas kept stranding runners on base and that was because Morales kept working his way around multiple runners on.

Georgetown starter Jake Bloss was able to settle down and work his way around a double.

Steven Miller came in after Morales and was able to shut down the Hoyas with the first one, two, three inning of the game. Meanwhile, Harry could not be stopped as he drove in another run to bring the lead to five.

The wind started to die down in the fifth inning after it was affecting the high pop ups earlier in the day.

There was a scary moment in the fifth as Hoyas pitcher Jordan Yoder took a line drive right back off his glove, and made the play to get the batter out.

Michael Eze would try to get something going for Georgetown as he was able to reach on a bunt single and he eventually became the first run of the day after an error on Kailher.

Penn State responded and tack on another run as Kailher scored on a wild pitch while Harry would score on a fielder's choice.

In the ninth, a leadoff walk came back to bite the Nittany Lions as Jake Hyde would bring in a run for the Hoyas and make it 7-2.
