UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Wednesday marked the 100 days until THON event, filled with fundraising activities, music, dancing and more.

The celebration kicked off at 11 a.m. with the line dance starting shortly afterward. The line dance is a couple-minute dance choreographed by THON members that is danced throughout the fundraiser.

Simple activities like a raffle and drawing were stationed all over the HUB-Robeson Center to help celebrate and fundraise. There was a silent disco party in Alumni Hall and games being played throughout the HUB.

Later on, the Lionettes joined to entertain. People were also donating hair in front of the HUB stairs. There was something to do or something to watch at each point during the 100 days event.

Those who could not make the event joined the virtual event via Livestream.

Also, the third annual Dream Forward campaign concluded the same day as the 100 days event and it revealed the total monetary amount. Since October 25th, the campaign’s goal was to reach $600,000 or more to fight against childhood cancer.

The Dream Forward campaign raised $1,055,836.46.

THON is a student-run philanthropy dedicated to improving the lives of children and families struggling from childhood cancer. Its mission is to provide financial and emotional support through fundraisers, activities and events. As well as spread awareness and help in urgent research.

THON’s Executive Committee announced during the Homecoming Parade, October 22nd, that the theme for 2022 THON is “Spark Endless Light.”

This is a huge announcement for the organization for two reasons: it marks the pathway towards the 46-hour dance marathon and the logo will be announced.

This year’s THON will return in person, as 2021 THON was live-streamed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The event takes place February 18-20, in the Bryce Jordan Center. Those participating must show proof of vaccination and must wear a mask.
