The high-flying wideout was able to sneak into the first round of the NFL Draft despite a loaded receiver class.

Dotson was selected by the Washington Commanders in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft Thursday night.

After only playing nine games in a shortened 2020 season, the Nazareth, Pennsylvania native broke out as one of the top playmakers in the country in 2021.

Dotson finished the season with 91 receptions for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns to help the Nittany Lions finish the season with a 7-5 regular season record and an Outback Bowl appearance.

One of his best games from the 2021 season came on the road against the Maryland Terrapins where Dotson set the single game record for receiving yards with 242 which he was able to pick up on 11 receptions and went for two touchdowns in the process.

Despite his decision to opt out of the Outback Bowl, Dotson still gathered several postseason accolades including being named first-team All-Big Ten and was also given third-team All-America honors from the Associated Press.

Dotson now creates even more history as he becomes the first Penn State wide receiver to be drafted in the first round since 2003 when Bryant Johnson went 17th overall to the Arizona Cardinals.
