It took just two games, but one Penn State freshman received hardware for his performance.

Running back Nicholas Singleton stole the show on Saturday against Ohio, rushing for 179 yards while finding the endzone twice en route to capturing Big Ten freshman of the Week.

Singleton’s first touchdown went for 70 yards and was the longest run since Journey Brown's 85-yard run versus Pitt in 2019.

His second score of the contest went for 44 yards, while his 179 yards are a school record for a Beaver Stadium debut.

The Shillington, Pennsylvania, native’s 219 all-purpose yards (179 rushing, 40 kick return) are the most since wide receiver Jahan Dotson’s 254 at Maryland a year ago.

This is Singleton’s first Big Ten freshman of the Week, and he’s the first Nittany Lion to receive the award since Joey Porter Jr. in December of 2020.
