Basketball season is right around the corner, and senior guard Jalen Pickett is garnering Big Ten attention.

Pickett was one of the top contributors on Penn State last season, leading the team in scoring 13.3 points per game, assists with 4.4 per game, and steals with 1.1 per game. He was also second on the Nittany Lions in blocks, 19, and third in rebounds, 133.

The former Siena Saint shot 42 percent from the floor while shooting 32 percent from beyond the arc, with a 74 percent free-throw percentage.

The Rochester, New York native was an iron man on the court, notching 37.2 minutes per game, which led the Big Ten and No. 11 in the country.

He was second in the conference and No. 27 in the nation with a 2.45 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Pickett finished the 2021-22 campaign as one of just six active Division I players with 1,500 career points, 500 career rebounds and 500 career assists while being one of only two to reach all three marks in just four years.

He returns to Happy Valley this season, utilizing his extra year granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He comes into his final campaign with career marks of 1,552 points, 598 assists and 506 rebounds. The blue and white open the 2022-23 season on Nov. 7 at home against the Winthrop Eagles at 7 p.m.
