UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With finals week approaching, students are eager for winter break to begin.

University Park campus is buzzing with holiday cheer. The countdown to winter break has started for many students, as classes are coming to a close this week.

Gabrielle Ward (third-year-nutritional sciences) shared how she celebrates the holidays, “I hang out with my family and friends, visit my boyfriend’s family out-of-state and watch Christmas movies.”

Students are ready to kick off the joyful season with special traditions. Conner Langston said his favorite tradition is “getting the largest Christmas tree on the lot and trying to fit it in our small house.”

Langston (first-year-cyber security) is most looking forward to seeing his friends and family back home this holiday season.

Before heading home, students can go downtown to get in the holiday spirit. The State Theatre will be playing “The Grinch” Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.

In anticipation of winter break, students can visit the Arboretum at Penn State to see light displays in the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens. The winter lights are set to begin on Dec. 9 and the displays will stay lit until 9 p.m. each night through early January.
