Seth Lundy Returning to Happy Valley for Junior Season, 247 Sports Reports

Penn State forward Seth Lundy is returning to the Nittany Lions’ program after he left the transfer portal Thursday afternoon according to 247 Sports.

The academic sophomore joins Izaiah Brockington in returning to Happy Valley after six players entered the portal shortly after the hire of head coach Micah Shrewsberry on March 15. Former starting guards Jamari Wheeler and Myreon Jones and reserve forward Trent Buttrick have announced they’re leaving program, leaving senior John Harrar as the only player of the six who remains undecided.

As a freshman, Lundy averaged 5.3 points with a 39% three-point percentage mostly coming off the bench in just under 15 minutes per game. The Paulsboro, New Jersey native then moved into the starting five for his sophomore season with high expectations to fill the shoes of Lamar Stevens.

He lived up to the hype in non-conference play when he scored 32 and 23 points against VCU and Seton Hall, respectively. But after a 27-point affair in a loss to Ohio State in late January, Lundy scored just 18 points in his next six games. He was moved to the bench two games later and replaced by Myles Dread.

The sixth-man role seemed to fit the 6-foot-6 Lundy well, however. He scored 31 at Maryland in the regular season finale for his first 30-burger since the VCU game in December. He ended the season with 10.1 points per game for the third-highest on the team, and he led his squad in blocks per game with 0.6.

Lundy is expected to return to the starting lineup with a depleted roster in what will be Shrewsberry’s first season at the helm.
