“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” Episode 3 Review

Story posted September 8, 2022 in CommRadio, Arts & Entertainment by Brendan Conroy

We are officially three episodes deep into Marvel’s most recent project “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” and the best of this new series is yet to come.

By far the most exciting and ‘bulky’ episode so far, episode three shows us the returning characters that make us consistently want to tune in every week, along with two huge cameos that are guaranteed to get fans drawn in and on the edge of their seat.

The episode does a great job of incorporating all the ideas from the previous episodes, as well as the two cameos previously mentioned. At some points, it can almost seem like too much “stuff” for the viewers, and a lot to keep up with.

This episode focuses on the court case of Emil Blonsky, better known as “The Abomination,” who is the client of Jennifer Walters, or as we know her; She-Hulk. Walters has to find a way to convince the jury of Blonsky’s release, while also dealing with keeping him as in control of himself as possible.

After we see The Abomination escaping jail at the end of episode two, we enter this episode already anticipating what is going to happen next with him, and what his fate looks like for the rest of the show. Fortunately, the end of the episode gives us a fairly good idea.

The first cameo is introduced rather early in the episode, as we see our beloved Wong, the current sorcerer supreme and the master of the mystic arts. It is revealed that Wong is actually the one responsible for Blonsky’s escape, as he was simply looking for a worthy opponent to take on as he trained for the title he now holds.

This event lands perfectly on the timeline with “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, and those who are true fans, noticed immediately.

On the other side of the episode, another cameo that we are surprised with, is rapper Megan Thee Stallion. She is featured in the episode as the alter ego of an Asgardian elf, responsible for taking a large sum of money from an old coworker of Walter’s.

This part of the episode seems almost forced however, as it appeared like the writers were adding these scenes to fill in for any leftover time they may not have been able to fill.

Megan has almost less than a minute of screen time, so if you are watching just for her, you might want to exercise the fast forward option on her specific scenes.

Even with the attempt of filling in time, there was not much action seen in this episode, with an exception for the very last couple of minutes. Other than that, the episode is a lot slower paced and there is not too much stress placed on the viewers.

Despite the speed and lack of action, Tatiana Maslany is brilliant once again in this episode and fits the ‘Marvel’ style of acting that fans expect to see today. A little cheesy at times, but in the best way possible.

It is clear that she was chosen for this role, and it has shown to suit her very well, and with the connection to other characters in the MCU it could lead to future projects for the actress.

Episode four will be released Thursday Sept. 8, and will hopefully answer some of the questions that may linger from fans after these first few episodes.
