UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Jenn Jortner Cassidy, a customer success manager at LinkedIn, held a seminar in the Carnegie Building Tuesday to show communications students how to “rock” their LinkedIn profile.

Students were presented with effective strategies to build a LinkedIn resume that stands out from the rest to help them connect to the working world.

Cassidy also introduced the LinkedIn Learning Service, a free service for all Penn State students to help boost their LinkedIn resumes.
“There are thousands of courses focused on business, creative and technology skills,” Cassidy said. “If you want to improve your skills in an area that goes beyond what classes are teaching you, LinkedIn Learning is a great place for you to visit.”

Cassidy said it’s important to present her seminar to students face-to-face.

“The number one thing that [companies] are looking for right now, in addition to all the hard technical skills, is soft skills,” Cassidy said. “It seems that the more ways we have to communicate now, through all this technology, the worse we’re becoming at it.”
