After lighting it up on the ice in her freshman campaign in Happy Valley, Penn State forward Tessa Janecke is taking her talents to the national stage.

Janecke was one of 14 forwards and 25 total players selected to represent Team USA at the upcoming IIHF World Women’s Championship.

Janecke previously represented the United States in the 2022 IIHF U18 World Championship, bringing home a silver medal.

The Illinois native will play alongside some of the world’s best women’s hockey players, including four-time Olympian Hilary Knight and three-time Olympian Amanda Kessel.

This nomination comes after the freshman phenom shattered Penn State freshman records for goals, assists and points, and was named USCHO National Co-Rookie of the Year.

The IIHF World Women’s Championship will feature 10 nations and will run from April 5 to April 16 in the CAA Centre in Ontario, Canada.
