The Third Annual Centre City Film Festival
The third annual Centre Film Festival took place on Nov. 1 through 7.
The festival was first created back in 2019 by faculty of the Bellisario College of Communications. This festival featured 80 different projects with various different styles including documentaries, shorts and feature films.
Over the week that the festival occurred, it traveled to three different locations. On Nov. 1-3, the festival took place at the State Theatre in State College, then it moved to the Mishler Theatre in Altoona on the fourth, and finally to the Rowland Theatre in Philipsburg from the fifth through the seventh.
A live stream also occurred simultaneously for those who could not attend the event in person.
Jamie Nguyen is a second-year sociology and film student at Penn State University who volunteered for the event. She felt that even though she was working the event, she was able to experience it as an audience member as well.
Some of the students in attendance wished that more people would come out and support the shows because you actually see and learn a lot of different things at these festivals.
“There were so many amazing films there and we had so much space in the theatre that was empty,” Nguyen said.
Tickets were free for students, $50 for an all-access pass, $15 for opening night at the Rowland Theatre and $8 for a block of films. For more information on future Centre Film Festival events or to re-watch past events, visit centrefilm.org.
