Tim Frazier Returns to NBA, Signs 10-Day Contract with Memphis Grizzlies
It’s been a minute since Tim Frazier has suited up for an NBA game but he may get that chance soon after joining the Memphis Grizzlies on a 10-day contract pending health and safety protocols.
Frazier played his college ball at Penn State from 2009-2014 with the final three seasons being under head coach Pat Chambers. His best season came in the 2011-12 campaign where the guard picked up 18.8 points and 6.2 assists per game.
He was named to the first-team All Big-Ten following the season and he was also named to the third team following his redshirt senior season two years later.
Frazier had bounced around the NBA ever since his career at Penn State concluded. He went undrafted in 2014 and started his career out in the D-league. After winning the league's MVP in 2015 with the Maine Red Claws, Frazier started his NBA career playing for eight different NBA teams including the Grizzlies.
In the NBA, Frazier is best known for his time with the Pelicans where he averaged a career high 13.1 points and 7.5 assists per game.
This isn’t the first time Frazier has signed a 10-day contract with the Grizzlies, however, as he signed one in early January but was waived quickly after. Frazier has not played since those three games during that contract.
The Grizzlies have a packed schedule in these ten days with six games scheduled during the span. Frazier will look to provide a spark for the Memphis bench as the Grizzlies currently sit as the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
What happens after those ten days conclude is unclear, and it could very well be the same result as the first time. For now, Frazier joins Penn State graduate Lamar Stevens back in the NBA where the 30 year old still looks for a long term role.
