Under Center: Episode 2

Audio/Story posted October 25, 2018 in CommRadio, Sports by Sports Staff

Mitch Broder, Ben Borus, and Pat Tartaro discuss the hottest topic in the National Football League in the second episode of Under Center Podcast:

A day after the Cowboys lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Washington Redskins, Dallas made a huge trade landing Raiders former first-round pick Amari Cooper. Cowboys sent away next year’s first-round pick to obtain Cooper.

Week seven of the NFL season was a very action-packed week with lots of drama and interesting performances. It started with Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles being benched midgame for Cody Kessler to then be renamed the starting quarterback for the next game.

Every week we see upsets in the NFL and for this week the Under Center Podcast crew believes the Cleveland Browns will deliver it, in their matchup with divisional rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Behind a fierce defense, and a young but talented offense, the Browns could find themselves as this week’s David.

We’re midway through the NFL season, and at this point players, teams, and coaches have shown who and what they’ll be this season. We go through our own midseason awards which included most underrated rookie, coach in the hottest seat, and breakout player of the year. Lots of hot takes and surprising picks for these midseason awards.

Things get wrapped up as the crew answers one to questions tweeted by you, the listener. This week’s Twitter question goes in-depth about the NFL’s new Roughing the Passer rule and if it goes too far in protecting the quarterback. We look on Twitter after every episode so don’t forget to tweet us your questions @undercenterpsu.
