Weirdest Celebrity Couples

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott

When I found out that Miss Jessica Day herself was dating a Property Brother, my mind was absolutely blown.

Zooey Deshanel is an American actress and singer. She is most famous for her titular role in the Fox network sitcom, “New Girl.” She has also been in movies such as “500 Days of Summer” and “Yes Man.”

Jonathan Scott is one half of a popular HGTV duo from the show, “Property Brothers”. The show features Scott and his identical twin brother, Drew. As someone with a twin, this was always my favorite HGTV show.

Deschanel and Scott met while filming an episode of “Carpool Karaoke” in the summer of 2019, and began dating shortly after. Since then, the couple has been seen together on red carpets, quarantining together in 2020, and celebrating birthdays.

The pair recently celebrated their third anniversary in August 2022, but I still find it so hard to believe that they even know each other.

Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian

Following Kim Kardashian's divorce from Kanye West and her appearance on “SNL,” it seemed like the easiest joke was that she would start dating Hollywood’s boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

But the recently ended and suspiciously timed-out relationship turned into reality only a few weeks after Kardashian hosted the iconic late-night show.

Not only did this relationship reek of a PR stunt, but it also caused drama between Kardashian and West that swiftly moved from fun celebrity gossip to concerning public cries for help.

The Kardashians present themselves as a well-oiled industry machine which is the opposite of Davidson’s comedy and aesthetic.

The media continued to push this relationship to the public. However, most people seemingly thought they were a fake couple or couldn’t care enough to speculate on it.

Additionally, there was a lot of collateral damage that occurred caused by this couple.

Due to Davidson’s feud with West, he barely appeared on his final season at “SNL,” only returning for a “Weekend Update” bit in his last episode.

Davidson’s friendship with Kid Cudi, a friend and frequent collaborator of West, caused the two rappers to feud publicly and killed any potential collaboration between the two again.

Nothing good came out of this relationship, which always felt like a weird coverup to other Kardashian-related scandals anyway.

Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez

Unpopular opinion: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez as a couple irks many. Their relationship started quickly and they rushed to be engaged. There has always been drama circling around their relationship.

In 2003, they were deemed the most popular couple and the paparazzi was essentially stalkers of the two. Lopez claimed in 2016 that they did not mean to have such a public relationship. The public should know better, and after watching her Netflix documentary, “Halftime | Jennifer Lopez,” she loves the spotlight and is absolutely full of it.

This opinion is a little biased because of Lopez, but oh well. They are the type of couple that is always doing too much PDA and probably calling each other gross pet names in front of their friends. Not saying there is anything wrong with these things, but some things are better done behind closed doors.

Happy to see after almost two decades that they have officially tied the knot. Maybe this time around, they will not be obnoxious about their relationship.

Cole Tucker and Vanessa Hudgens

Following her breakup with long-time boyfriend Austin Butler, Vanessa Hudgens stated that she would prefer her next relationship to not be with a public figure. While she didn’t quite reach that goal, she found a partner that was a random surprise for many, specifically in Pittsburgh.

Cole Tucker is a middling baseball player who has spent his career bouncing from the major to the minor leagues for two of the sport’s least successful franchises in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Nationally, Tucker was only slightly known for his hair on the field going viral. In Pittsburgh, he was known as a nice guy who was a first round bust.

While personality-wise, there isn’t much to pick apart between these two, the idea of a movie star dating a failed baseball prospect was a sight to behold among both fanbases.
