What’s next for Dallas Cowboys after Dak Prescott injury?

Things are already off to a rough start for America’s Team.

Starting quarterback Dak Prescott will miss 6-8 weeks, requiring surgery for a broken thumb. He exited Sunday’s 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after taking a hit to the hand. He ran to the sideline saying, “It’s broke,” to the training staff before quickly running back to the locker room.

Before the injury, Prescott went 14-for-29, with 134 total yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. Quarterback Cooper Rush finished the game for the Cowboys, amassing 64 total yards and a passer rating of 67.5.

This raises the question, can Cooper Rush keep the Cowboys afloat until Dak is able to return from injury? Is the season already over for Dallas, or should it look elsewhere for major quarterback upgrades?

Since being signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Cooper Rush has appeared in eight games for the ‘Boys. He totaled 488 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception across those games.

Will Jerry Jones be willing to give him the chance to haul Dallas to the playoffs, or does he have a major move in store?

For example, former Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton could be worth giving a call. Jerry Jones has some decisions to make, as the Washington Commanders and New York Giants will be looking to take advantage of the Dak Prescott injury.

Fans didn’t take too kindly to this injury either, as there was video evidence of trash being thrown at Dak Prescott as he ran to the locker room, along with an array of boos. Is there trouble in Dallas?
