Erik Arroyo is a senior journalism major with a minor in media studies at the Pennsylvania State University, with an expected graduation date of Saturday, May 5, 2018. He is a writer, photographer, and videographer whose work includes topics of panethnicity (race), ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, gender, religion, economic class, disability, mental health, and politics. Currently, he works as a tutor at Penn State Learning’s Undergraduate Writing Center where he tutors students weekly to help them improve their grammar, writing, and critical thinking skills. On the side, he also does journalistic freelance work as well. While at Penn State, he has been an active member of Penn State Network News, Latinx Caucus, LGBTQ Roundtable, and Phi Sigma Pi Gender-Inclusive National Honor Fraternity. Additionally, he has been to Chicago twice for both the National LGBTQ Taskforce’s 2016 Creating Change conference and the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute’s 2017 conference. His past internship experience includes working as a paid intern for CBS 2 News New York during the summer of 2017.
