
Amanda Valdes

Amanda is a Penn State student who will be graduating in December 2012 with a Baccalaureate degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Psychology. She has interned with Eagle 98.7, a local radio station in State College, PA. She was able to experience different aspects of the radio industry including promotions, sales and being on air. Amanda participated in ComRadio during her college career, where she was able to co-anchor shows, compose her own scripts and gather interviews and sounds for stories. Amanda interned at WCBS-TV in New York City in Summer 2012. During her internship she was able to go out on stories with reporters, shoot her own video and create her own scripts and packages. Further duties included assisting producers and the assignment desk with stories as well as addressing ancillary tasks. Amanda has worked with The Daily Collegian on their Metro staff as a state reporter where she was able to enhance her interviewing skills and compose stories affecting the local and state community. Upon graduating Amanda hopes to find a position that allows her to contribute and cultivate her passion for journalism. She hopes to attend graduate school in the near future.
