2022 NFL Week 2 recap

Week 2 picked up right where week 1 left off in craziness. Here are some of the biggest things that happened in the second week of action.

Fireworks in Baltimore

The Ravens held a 35-14 lead in the fourth quarter but had an epic collapse and ended up losing 42-38 at the last second. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle were the main culprits.

Hill had 190 receiving yards with two touchdowns, Waddle added 171 yards with two touchdowns. Tua Tagovailoa had 469 passing yards with six passing touchdowns.

The one upside for depressed Ravens fans is that through two games, Lamar Jackson has been a top-four quarterback and is playing some of the best football of his career.

Flacco is elite

With about two minutes left in the fourth quarter of the Jets-Browns game, Nick Chubb ran for a 12-yard touchdown to put the Browns up 30-17, but the PAT was missed.

Then with around a minute and a half left, Joe Flacco found a wide-open Corey Davis for a 66-yard touchdown to cut the lead to six. Then the unthinkable happened.

The Jets recovered the onside kick, and Flacco threw the game-winning touchdown to Garrett Wilson for 15 yards. Flacco finished with 307 passing yards and four passing touchdowns in a miraculous comeback win.

The Lion’s offense is legit

Last week in a close loss to the Eagles, the Lions scored 35 points and compiled 386 yards. This week showed that Week One was no fluke.

The Lions scored 36 points and had 425 total yards against the Commanders. Jared Goff threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns, and Amon-Ra St. Brown continues to be on an absolute tear, with 116 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns on the day.

And he ran for 68 rushing yards too. The Lion’s run game has also been sensational this year behind one of the best offensive lines in the league.

Matty Ice has cooled down

Many people, including myself, thought the Colts could win the AFC South. But that prediction is looking shaky.

After having to mount a huge comeback and ending in a tie against the lowly Texans in Week One, the Colts got destroyed by the Jaguars 24-0.

Trevor Lawrence had one of the best games of his career, throwing for 235 yards and two touchdowns.

On the other hand, Colts Quarterback Matt Ryan went 16 of 30 for 195 yards, 0 touchdowns, three interceptions and was sacked five times. Colts fans should be worried about Ryan’s play so far.

Hurts is him

In what was expected to be a very competitive game between the Vikings and the Eagles, the Eagles ended up winning 24-7 in dominating fashion.

One reason is Kirk Cousins had his usual primetime stinker. The other big reason is that Jalen Hurts balled out. Hurts was 26/31 for 333 passing yards, one passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns.

Facing doubts at the beginning of the season, Hurts continues to silence his critics and prove himself.
