Around the Pac-12: Week 14 (Football)

Story posted December 3, 2020 in CommRadio, Sports by Cole Koffle

Hopefully, we shall see all twelve PAC-12 teams in action this week.

Oregon and Cal both need wins coming off of devastating losses. The Ducks lost their rivalry game to Oregon State by a score of 41-38, while Cal fell short 24-23 in “The Big Game” after having a game tying extra point blocked.

Cal has failed to get going throughout the past three games and it is not going to get easier. They play a determined Oregon Ducks team that is hungry after a tough loss to their in-state rival. Even though the PAC 12 looks to be out of the playoff the Oregon Ducks are still looking to prove that they are here to compete with the best in the nation.

USC returns to play after their game versus Colorado was canceled due to COVID-19. After a win at Utah, the Trojans are looking to keep the momentum going versus a young Washington State team.

Kedon Slovis is having a good year statistically and is a proven leader for the Trojans. USC also gets a week's rest, so it will be energized and ready to fire away.

Washington State’s Max Borghi returns to practice this week as he tries to prepare for USC. Borghi, who was the Cougars best offensive player last year, has missed the first part of the season due to injury.

Will we get to see Borghi play? Only time will tell.

Arizona State is looking to shake off the rust, as it has only played one game this season. The Sun Devils will take on a young UCLA team in Tempe.

UCLA has found an identity and is looking to build off of their win last week versus Arizona. Arizona State has yet to play another game after its stunning loss in Southern California, but looks to take out the frustrations of not playing a game on the Bruins.

Oregon State wants to build on its win versus Oregon win a win over Utah. An impressive performance by running back Jemar Jefferson has blasted him to the conversation in being the best running back in the PAC-12. The Beavers will be without quarterback Tristan Gebbia and will have to rely on Jefferson more in this game.

Utah is looking to get its first win of the season. With Jake Bentley at quarterback, the Utes have failed to finish games, so they’re hungry to get their first win of the season.

Arizona is still looking for its first win but this week it would have to be against a very talented Colorado team. Colorado has a very strong run game as shown against Stanford.

Arizona has virtually no identity and is still trying to find what it does well. The Wildcats have an offense, but their defense needs to be tightened up.

After coming off of a win in The Big Game, Stanford has to march into “the greatest setting in college football.” A tough and talented Washington team is looking to win its fourth straight game.
Both teams are known for playing a tough hard-nose football game, so expect a fist fight from the Huskies and Cardinal.
