Around the Pac-12: Week 15 (Football)

Story posted December 10, 2020 in CommRadio, Sports by Cole Koffler

The race for the PAC 12 championship is heating up, with four of the teams in the conference still in contention to make it to the title game.

USC is coming off of a dominating win over Washington State by a score of 38-13. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had the most impressive day on the field, scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter.

Washington State also turned the ball over three times, all of which turned into points for the Trojans. A win on saturday in the Crosstown Showdown versus UCLA will see the Trojans become the PAC 12 South champions.

UCLA is looking to spoil the party for its biggest rival. The Bruins are coming off an impressive win versus a talented Arizona State team.

This was the Bruins best performance of the year, as they controlled the whole game from the start. No turnovers and a good running game helped the Bruins come out on top.

Expect the battle for the Victory Bell to be a shootout this year ,as both teams will come out hungry.

Utah travels to Colorado for another game that can clinch a winner for the PAC 12 South. If Buffalo wins and USC loses, then Colorado will go to the PAC 12 Championship.

Colorado is built on a strong run game and is led by fifth-year senior quarterback Sam Noyer. Utah is coming off of their first win of the year after beating Oregon State 30-24.

The Utes are looking to keep this momentum going and try to spoil the party for the Buffalo. No one could have predicted that Utah versus Colorado would have major championship implications.

In the PAC 12 North, the winner of Oregon versus Washington will go on to the PAC 12 Championship but as of right now Washington has paused all activity due to COVID-19. This matchup is one of the most entertaining games of the year in the PAC 12, as there are usually title implications on the line.

Both teams are looking to avenge their losses by going to the title game.

Winless Arizona State will play winless Arizona for the Territorial Cup on Saturday. Both programs are looking for their first win of the season and what better way to get your first victory than against your most hated rival. Both teams are coming off close losses, with Arizona losing to Colorado and Arizona State losing to UCLA.

Both teams should come out with a different state of mind. Not only will they be looking to win, but they want that Territorial Cup as well.

Cal will travel to the Palouse to take on Washington State. Wazzu is coming off a trainwreck of a game where nothing went its way and Cal is coming off of a stunning win versus Oregon. Washington State wants to defend their turf and avenge a dominating loss while Cal is looking to end their season on a two game win streak.

Stanford will make the trip to Corvallis to play Oregon State. These two teams are almost identical. Both run the ball, have good running backs, and have quarterbacks that can throw when they need to.

The beavers nearly beat Utah in Salt Lake City, but a Ute comeback sent them back home with a loss. On the other hand, Stanford is looking to keep their momentum going after upsetting Washington in Seattle.
