Early morning voters wait patiently in Spring West

Story posted November 8, 2016 in News, Election 2016 by Shuyao Chen

On a brisk Tuesday morning as the first warm rays of the sun began to peek over horizon, Judy Poponak, 66, stood with her friends outside the Spring West Election House near Bellefonte, one of the oldest polling places in Centre County.

Things were not going smoothly. The one-room building was too small to accommodate all the voters flooding in, so a lot of them ended up standing outside in the cold. Then the voting machine malfunctioned a half hour after voting started. Parking was tight as more people arrived.

Despite all, the voters — including Poponak and her friends — waited patiently to help elect the next president of the United States.
