Embracing Punjabi Culture

Beginning at age 5, Nikita Bhalla embraced her Indian culture through traditional dance. Although she quit dancing for many years, her passion for Bhangra dance led her join Penn State's Sher Bhangra team during her senior year in hopes of reconnecting with her roots and meet other students who have similar backgrounds as her. Bhangra is a traditional dance from the Indian subcontinent originating in the Majha area of the Punjab region that is characterized as a popular upbeat music style.
