Fantasy Football Trust or Bust: Week 11
Host Matt Noah and analysts Zech Lambert, Ben Mooney and Logan Bourandas recap the best and worst from week 11 of the NFL and a look ahead at fantasy:
Week 11 featured some great matchups following a Monday night thriller between the Seahawks and 49ers. New wide receivers like Christian Kirk and Darius Slayton burst onto the fantasy scene each with over 30 PPR fantasy points. Let’s recap the best and worst of last week from a fantasy perspective.
Quarterbacks
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs: Mahomes made his long awaited return to the Chiefs without missing a beat throwing for 446 yards and three touchdowns this last week against the Titans. He finished with 29 fantasy points. He is back to his must start self, following his knee injury and showed why he was drafted so high in the beginning of the season. He shredded the Titans defense and made all the Chiefs receivers fantasy relevant again. Start him next week in MNF against divisional foe in the LA Chargers.
Decision: TRUST
Drew Brees, Saints: What happened! Brees threw for 287 yards and that is the end of his fantasy statline. He finished with 11 fantasy points after two weeks of preparation and facing off against a soft Falcon’s defense. The Saints did not find the end zone throughout the entire game. Brees should be fully healthy now and this game should be marked off as a fluke performance. He is still a starter candidate in a favorable in Week 11 against a lowly ranked Tampa Bay pass defense.
Decision: TRUST
Running Backs
Joe Mixon, Bengals: Mixon produced a solid game running for 114 yards on 30 carries to pair with two catches for 37 yards. Mixon has carried the entire Bengals offense as QB Andy Dalton has been benched, AJ Green is still injured, and the offensive line is ranked last in the NFL per NFL Outsiders. Mixon is a talented player finishing with 16 PPR points and his team kept feeding him the ball despite losing badly for most of the game. Based on workload Mixon has a chance to return as a startable fantasy option. He will regress but can be considered an RB2 Sunday against the Raiders.
Decision: BUST
Alvin Kamara, Saints: Another Saints player, Kamara was a victim of the offensive woes against the Falcons. He finished with 15 PPR points salvaging his day with 8 catches for 50 yards and rushed for only 24 yards. As a player projected to be a top 4 RB Kamara and been injured and has not had the season most people expected out of him. Next week expect positive regression as he is a bounce back candidate against the Buccaneers.
Decision: TRUST
Wide Receivers
Christian Kirk, Cardinals: The leading fantasy receiver of the week finished with 37 PPR points, catching 6 passes for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kirk has been a boom or bust all season with some solid games but Sunday was his breakout performance as it is his first 100 plus yard game. On top of that Kirk caught his first three touchdowns all in the same game. QB Kyler Murray has seen the receiver as a go to target. Next week against a tough 49ers defense expect a decline in production, he may consider flex play but nothing more.
Decision: BUST
Tyreek Hill, Chiefs: Hill had another astounding game as he caught 11 of 19 targets for 157 yards and a touchdown. 19 targets was his career high and it was Hill’s second consecutive week over 140 yards and scoring a TD. He finished with 32 PPR points. Well he benefited from Mahomes return, Hill has played admirably since returning from his shoulder injury. He should continue to be the number one option on a potent Chiefs offense who faces off against the Chargers on Monday night.
