Redshirt sophomore defensive end Jayson Oweh’s time at Penn State has come to a close.

The 2020 first team All-Big Ten selection has decided to declare for the 2021 NFL draft according to a press release from Penn State Athletics.

“It has been an honor to be a part of the Penn State family and don the blue and white,” Oweh said in the press release. “The care Penn State has provided me was exceptional and has been truly expressed.”

Oweh was third on the team in tackles for loss, posting 6 ½ of them in seven games. He was also fourth overall on the team with 38 tackles, with 20 of them being solo tackles.

Oweh said he matured during his three years in Happy Valley and “will always” represent Penn State to the best of his abilities. Oweh also said he will complete his Penn State degree.

Head coach James Franklin said he and the rest of the program “couldn’t be more proud” of Oweh and everything he has accomplished.

“Jayson has grown so much as a football player, student, leader and man since he set food on campus in 2018,” Franklin said. “I am excited to see Jayson chase his professional dreams and I am confident he will succeed in the NFL and whatever else in his bright future he sets his mind on.”
