UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State hosted "Love Your Body Week," offering free yoga classes last week from Monday through Friday in hopes of inspiring others to love and appreciate the body they live in.

Senior Sam Perry, who hosted one of the yoga classes, explained how the art of yoga has taught her to accept herself.

“[Yoga] has helped me celebrate my strength,” Perry said. “I can do things that I never thought were possible.”

Perry also said that yoga has the ability to help the mind stray away from negative thoughts about body image.

“[Yoga] really connects you to your body, and helps you love your body and feel all of its strengths,” Perry said.

Before every yoga class last week, a positive body image quote was read to the participants.

Freshman Khushalee Lnamdar said she thinks having more weeks like this at Penn State is a great idea. Lnamdar was very appreciative of the concept.

“I think it’s really cool that Penn State is doing something for college kids to really embrace themselves and embrace their bodies because I know it’s really hard for a lot of people,” Lnamdar said.
