Penn State Football 2022 Bowl Predictions

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is days away from learning its bowl destination as conference championship weekend will figure out the final wrinkles of a busy and dramatic postseason selection process.

The Nittany Lions are ranked No. 8 in the nation. Penn State students have their predictions on this year’s bowl pick.

Third-year broadcast journalism student, Jon Draeger, said he thinks it boils down to what the college football landscape, especially championship Saturday is doing.

“For example, TCU and USC are going to play big factors into getting in the bowl game. I think based on recent results and how both teams are playing I think TCU and USC are both going to win the respective championship, but all and all I don't think that's going to affect Penn State's chances,” Draeger said. “All and all they might smell the roses and head to Pasadena to the Rose Bowl cause Ohio State played in it last year and I don’t think the tournament of roses committee wants to see the same team again.”

And it seems this is a popular bet amongst Nittany Lion fans. Matthew McLaughlin, a third-year broadcast journalism student, agrees.

“I think it’ll be the rose bowl because Ohio State already played last year in the Rose Bowl, so the committee is not too thrilled about a rematch of Ohio and Utah,” McLaughlin said. “I think it'll be Penn State and Oregon just because that's the way the committee is going to operate. It's how they can maximize money and Oregon and Penn State both have really passionate fan bases, so I wouldn't be surprised if those two teams compete.”

The days might bring on more predictions so stay tuned football fans for this special announcement.
