After losing out on three top targets on Thursday, Penn State bounced back in a big way, adding to its 2023 class on Friday.

Just one day after four-star Marcus Stokes flipped from Penn State to Florida, four-star cornerback Elliot Washington decommits from Alabama and comes to Happy Valley.

Washington is the No. 16 player to join James Franklin’s class and ranks as the No. 110 player in the nation, according to the 247 Sports rankings.

The cornerback mentioned it was a difficult decision but was best for his future.

“I would like to thank the University of Alabama, Coach Saban, Coach Gillespe and Coach T Rob for your time and effort during my recruitment,” Washington said in a tweet. “After further conversation with my family, I will be committing to the Pennsylvania State University.”

The Venice, Florida, native committed to Alabama in late January but opened his recruitment back up and took official visits with Penn State and Michigan State.

Washington measures 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds while being the second cornerback in the blue and white’s 2023 class.

The four-star is an extremely versatile defensive back with an elite burst and has been getting varsity snaps since he was in eighth grade.

He has spent much of his high school career working on the outside, but might settle in as a slot corner or box safety at the next level with his physical nature.

With the addition of Washington, Penn State regains a top-five class and is second in the Big Ten behind Ohio State.
